Location

Lourdes lies at the foothills of the Pyrenees and is famous for the Marian apparitions of Our Lady of Lourdes said to have occurred in 1858 to Bernadette Soubirous.

Despite the fact that Lourdes' population numbers are around 15,000 residents, it is the host to nearly  5,000,000 pilgrims and tourists every season and Lourdes has the second largest amount of hotels per square kilometer in France after Paris.

If you are an outdoors person, you will love Lourdes. There are various outdoor activities in the local area such as treks and walks as well as some white water sports on the Purenean rivers, or biking along the legendary roads of the Tour de France on many of our mountain bike trails. There is local skiing and a range of winter sport resorts, depending on the time of year you plan your trip. There are also more leisurely activities such as thermal spas in the area.

Transportation

  • Local buses circulate around Lourdes. Cost is: 1.20€ per ride. It is a handy way to see the local area. Company is Mon City Bus.
  • MaLigne bus company has buses that go out of the city of Lourdes to neighboring areas such as Tarbes & Pau. This bus company will take you between the Lourdes / Tarbes Airport and the Lourdes SNCF Gare. Cost is 2€.
  • Lourdes SNCF Gare (train Station), 500 meters
Arriving By Bus Or Train:

If you arrive to Lourdes by bus or train, the train station is walking distance (approx 5 minutes walk) and we would be happy to meet you at the train station and walk you to the apartment should you know your scheduled arrival time.

Arriving By Plane:

If you are flying into the Lourdes/Tarbes airport, the #2 'Maligne des Gave' bus is right outside the door of the airport terminal and it will take you to the Lourdes SNCF Gare (train station). The bus costs 2 Euros each and takes approx 20 minutes. The service leaves the airport approximately every hour, and is not connected to any particular airplane arrival. Arriving By Car:

If you are driving into Lourdes, there is free street parking only a short distance around the corner, (we will direct you where to go) or alternatively there is under cover paid parking a few steps away under the Tourist Office, its is called Parking Payramale, operated by Vinci Car Parks.

Generally, most of the town is metered parking from 8 until 12 and 2pm to 6pm, during the day so be sure if you are not in a free parking bay that you have a paid ticket displayed on the dash of your car.
